TELLER COUNTY DISASTER ASSISTANCE CENTER OPEN IN DIVIDE
Teller County, CO, July 5, 2018– This morning at 10:00am, a Disaster Assistance Center was opened at Summit Elementary School (490 Meadow Park Dr, Divide, CO 80814) for those residents who have been impacted by the #highchateaufire. While it is great to see residents seeking and receiving assistance at the Center, the public needs to know that we at the Sheriff’s Office will let the public know through Nixle, the Teller County Sheriff’s Office official Facebook page, our website, and our NextDoor page which subdivisions are open for people to return to their homes.
Unfortunately, there have been residents showing up at the Disaster Assistance Center to obtain an ID for re-entry, but being turned away from still-evacuated subdivisions.
The most-current information is being put out over social media, our Nixle alerts, and shared with the media. As of noon today, the following subdivisions are still on evacuation orders and residents will be turned away even WITH ID:
Eagle Crest Sunrise Ridge Chateau West Highland Meadows Dome Rock Ranch Living Forest Estates High Chateau Ranch Lookout Point Road
Hours of the Disaster Assistance Center are:
7/5 Thursday 10am-6pm 7/6 Friday 10am-6pm 7/7 Saturday 9am- 2pm 7/10 Tuesday TBD ###
