DANGEROUS BUTANE HASH OIL LAB FOUND
Teller County, CO, March 24, 2019– Friday morning, the Teller County Sheriff’s Office received information concerning an illegal marijuana cultivation operation occurring at 826 Chipita Creek Trail in the Indian Creek subdivision near Florissant. Deputies went to the address Friday afternoon and observed large totes containing processed marijuana and a Butane Hash Oil lab on the back porch in plain view. The location was secured and a search warrant was obtained for the property after nobody would answer the door. 32-year-old Andy Wilson eventually came to the door and was detained.
Teller County Patrol Deputies, with the assistance of agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Teller County Narcotics Team (TNT) executed the search warrant and found a functioning Butane Hash Oil lab and related equipment with several boxes of Butane cans. The search team also located over 100 pounds of marijuana “shake” used for manufacturing hash oil and over two pounds of hash oil, also known as “shatter”. The street value of the shatter alone is approximately $73,000.00.
The danger posed to the public from an operation such as this is very clear. Making hash oil using flammable liquids is extremely dangerous and illegal. It has resulted in explosions, severe burns and death. i
Wilson was booked into the Teller County Jail for Offenses relating to Marijuana and Marijuana Concentrate, a class 1 Drug Felony, and Extraction of Marijuana Concentrate a class 2 Drug Felony. Wilson’s bond is set at $50,000.
